To say that I rode my bike alot in May is an understatement. 543 miles is 125 miles per week and almost 18 miles per day. My activity app Strava, paired with my Garmin GPS watch, are fairly accurate. Believe me, I feel it in my bones. Also, this was the hottest documented month of May in Central Texas ever. So I’m feeling pretty happy about that accomplishment, seeing how my original goal for this year was 50 miles per week. It could all change in a moment, and there are some things on the horizon which may mean I’m spending less time on the bike. But that’s all fine. For now, I’m satisfied that I still have some legs. Oh, and I also walked 45 miles. Today is a well-deserved rest day, so let’s dig into the stats a bit, shall we?
Foam Rollers for Post-Workout Sore Muscles: Beneficial or Torture?
Yesterday A Dude mentioned some ways to save money, and one of them was to go to massage schools. To save even more money, a foam roller is a great way to keep your muscles limber and it’s free once you buy it. I have owned one of these innocent looking cylinders of pain for a while. But it tends to sit in the corner or hide out under the bed, lonely and neglected. After yesterday’s ride, moving earlier in the week, and another day of wrangling boxes, I was feeling pretty tight. So after a tasty nap next to Buddy the dog and doing my 30′ of yoga (which I’ve been at for over 4 years now), I dragged out the roller to smooth out the rough spots. First I did a little online reading and for those unfamiliar am happy to share what I learned. Let’s get rolling!

Not Every Body Can Be Like [Your Favorite Celebrity Vegan Name Here]
As predicted, out of necessity, I ended up modifying my diet to include more than just fruit, vegetables and nuts. While I lost 13 pounds in 7 days, I believe it was too much radical change, detoxification and finally deficiency that led me to add back in a tin of sardines in olive oil and a fish oil tablet.
I knew something was off when I went to Neighborhood Acupuncture Clinic today. I couldn’t fall asleep as usual, and pedaled home as if in a sea of jelly. This is dangerous, and I dropped and cracked my shades. Which makes a dude sad since they are very nice and were donated by a nice guy. Sigh.
