Books don’t just publish themselves, and it’s an epic battle to get it done and revised, and like a war to get it published. The Getting Published Blues
I attended my fifth Writers League of Texas panel event in as many months on Thursday evening. This was held a week before their 38th Annual Agents & Editors Conference. Although I signed up to volunteer and attend some sessions, currently I am on a wait list. Regular readers know I’m a struggling unpaid blogger and author of a memoir about two years of biking 10,000 miles. But it’s a book in progress with no advance from a publisher. Research bands, sessions, films, etc. in advance. If you’re a middle-aged person like me, reading lists of younger music acts is like reading another language: you don’t understand a word. But unless you use the Filter by genre or Listen features on the SXSW app and also Spotify or other music streaming service, you are doomed to wander into random bars and are likely to get stuck listening to something you hate. There are also plenty of Twitter pages and websites that help you with making choices.
